3D animation design

Discipline

3D animation at Deakin will prepare you for a fulfilling career in a number of areas, including motion design, film, television and web design, motion capture performance, or augmented and virtual reality.

Get work-ready

An animation design degree at Deakin will help you to develop your technical skills and gain a deeper understanding of design strategies and principles to take your practice to the next level. Learn, create and collaborate in industry-grade design studio labs, and be taught by experienced animation professionals, to graduate with the skills, confidence and networks you need to succeed in the industry.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate (your first degree)

An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

Professional recognition

Our Bachelor of Design course is formally recognised by the DIA and meets industry standards, so that you stand out to employers when you graduate. It also means you can obtain membership of the DIA, giving you access to some of the biggest design events and experts in the nation.

The animation teaching staff have been amazing, with many of them still currently freelancing and being hired for animation work, giving them valuable first-hand knowledge of the current industry.

uniteD x design

Final year design students collaborate on a dynamic, cross-discipline industry project, working with not-for-profit clients. Working to a real brief, students assist with brand development or creative campaigns and exhibit their work in a final graduate exhibition.
