Students will on average spend 150-hours over the trimester undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Scheduled learning activities - online

Online independent and collaborative learning activities including weekly engagement with materials and responses in discussion forums. A minimum of two Blackboard Collaborate sessions will be conducted during the trimester

In-person attendance requirements

The unit includes 15-days (120-hours) of professional experience in a VET/TAFE education setting

Content

This learner-focused unit introduces students to the design, teaching and assessment cycle in Vocational Education. It critically examines the development of competency-based training for diverse learner cohorts. Students will use important principles of constructively aligned curriculum design and work integrated learning to interpret competency-based training. Students will be learning about principles of lesson planning and authentic work-related assessment strategies and apply these to create authentic and inclusive learning experiences for learners. Through the unit's assessment tasks, students will examine their own curriculum and assessment practices and that of their peers and propose evidence-based adjustments.
