Study commitment

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

Scheduled learning activities - campus

One hour weekly self-directed online learning and 4 X 3 hour face-to-face seminars throughout trimester

Scheduled learning activities - cloud (online)

One hour weekly self-directed online learning and 4 X 3 hour online seminars throughout trimester

In-person attendance requirements

All students must complete a minimum of 8 hours of placement at their identified site

Note:

From 2020, HSE213 will be offered in Trimester 2 only.

Content

The aim of this unit is to enable students to develop an understanding of the nature of children's physical activity and sport participation and the influences on these behaviours in a variety of contexts. As part of this unit, students will have the opportunity to observe groups of children participating in physical activity, interact with an organisation that provides services to children, and develop physical activity promotion materials and strategies to suit the needs of the group.

  • 8 hours of placement at their identified placement site, Working With Children Check, Police Check, Safeguarding Children training
