Study commitment

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

One hour weekly self-directed online learning and 6 X 2 hour on-campus seminars throughout trimester

Content

The aim of this unit is to enable students to develop an understanding of the nature of children's physical activity and sport participation and the influences on these behaviours in a variety of contexts. As part of this unit, students will have the opportunity to observe groups of children participating in physical activity, interact with an organisation that provides services to children, and develop physical activity promotion materials and strategies to suit the needs of the group.

Hurdle requirement

  • AT 2 (based on 8 hours of placement at their identified placement site and requires prior submission of a Working With Children Check and Police Check).
