This unit is only available to students enrolled in H505 - Graduate Certificate of Therapeutic Child Play, H505 - Graduate Certificate of Play and Childhood, H605 - Graduate Diploma of Therapeutic Child Play, H605 - Graduate Diploma of Play and Childhood, H706 - Master of Child Play Therapy
Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

Online independent and collaborative learning activities including 3 scheduled online seminars
This unit is a core unit in the Master of Child Play Therapy and Graduate Diploma of Therapeutic Child Play. Students may also undertake this unit as part of the Certificate of Therapeutic Child Play.
This unit integrates knowledge of play and childhood with:
- developmental theories in childhood;
- neuroscience, neuroplasticity and the neurosequential development of the brain
- childhood psychopathology, mental health, and wellbeing
Unit content and reflective activities will support learning about the influence of early experiences on the developing brain. Students will gain skills in translating scientific knowledge into plain language.
