Content

This unit is a core unit in the Master of Child Play Therapy and Graduate Diploma of Therapeutic Child Play. Students may also undertake this unit as part of the Certificate of Therapeutic Child Play.
This unit integrates knowledge of play and childhood with:

  • developmental theories in childhood;
  • neuroscience, neuroplasticity and the neurosequential development of the brain
  • childhood psychopathology, mental health, and wellbeing

Unit content and reflective activities will support learning about the influence of early experiences on the developing brain. Students will gain skills in translating scientific knowledge into plain language.
