Content
This unit aims to equip students with the knowledge and ability to apply, critically evaluate and effectively communicate intellectual property law, and develop a deep appreciation of major policy issues and developments in the law. Topics include: intellectual property theory, policy and organisation; copyright protection; the rights given by copyright, and how they are infringed; defences, remedies ownership and transmission of copyright; the designs registration system and its overlap with copyright; the rationales for patent protection; patentability; infringement of a patent; and trade marks law and policy, including rationales for protection, rights and infringement.
