Study commitment

Students will on average spend 150 hours over the teaching period undertaking the teaching, learning and assessment activities for this unit.

This will include educator guided online learning activities within the unit site.

Scheduled learning activities - online

Online independent and asynchronous collaborative learning up to a maximum of 2 hours each week which includes lecture recordings and 1 x 1 hour online seminar (recordings provided) each week for 9 weeks, and 1 x 1.5 hour online seminar (recordings provided) each week for 2 weeks.


When a company is unable to meets its financial obligations, there may be significant consequences for that company and a wide array of stakeholders – including its officers, creditors, members, employees, customers, suppliers, and the broader community. This unit focuses on external administration in Australia under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). Specifically, the options available to attempt a corporate rescue, or else to liquidate a company, are examined at length by reference to key legislative provisions and pertinent court decisions.
