Undergraduate (your first degree)
An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.
Postgraduate (further study)
A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)
Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

'Living in a relatively new housing estate, I was fascinated by the construction sites around me and pondered about the work which was occurring behind the scenes. I chose this area of study because I wanted to be able to bring positive change to communities through the built environment. I believe the built environment really does shape the overall wellbeing of society; it changes the way people feel in their surrounds, their quality of life and their ability to undertake business operations.
The construction management course incorporates many aspects I enjoy learning about, and touches on a range of disciplines which always keeps learning interesting. My subjects have incorporated elements of business, law, science, maths and environmental science, but are all specifically studied in terms of the construction industry.
I was able to visit the new Geelong Waterfront student accommodation during its construction phase. Although it was only a brief look around, the site visit gave me the chance to apply my learning. It was interesting to hear about their progress and their remaining plans for the completion of the building.'
