Studying through FutureLearn

FutureLearn offers you a powerful new way to learn online. Every course has been designed according to principles of effective learning through storytelling, discussion, visible learning, and using community support to celebrate progress.

What is FutureLearn?

FutureLearn is an innovative global platform for social and easy-to-use online course delivery. The Deakin units offered on FutureLearn are broken down into convenient two-week blocks, ensuring your learning experience is easy to manage around your work and lifestyle commitments.

The advantages of studying on FutureLearn

Studying through FutureLearn allows you to collaborate with peers around the world, engage with rich learning material and enjoy discussions with feedback from Deakin's expert educators.

Why study through FutureLearn?

FutureLearn is a highly interactive social learning experience, with unit content delivered in easily manageable steps, allowing you to learn on your own terms, whenever and wherever you are.

The first two weeks of some units being offered via FutureLearn are open to anyone around the globe, so you have the opportunity to meet learners from around the world and enhance your learning experience.

How does FutureLearn differ from CloudDeakin?

The content delivered on FutureLearn is the same industry-leading material that Deakin delivers on-campus and online. As the first university world-wide to deliver degrees through FutureLearn, Deakin is utilising this innovative new social learning platform to ensure your learning experience is smooth, well-rounded and rewarding.

If you're already a Deakin student and you've taken units on the CloudDeakin platform, things may look and work a little differently to what you might be used to. However, FutureLearn is intuitive and easy-to-use, so you'll get the hang of it in no time.

How do I access FutureLearn?

New and existing Deakin students enrolled in a degree access FutureLearn via Deakin's central student portal, DeakinSync. You'll then be taken to the FutureLearn platform where you can login with your existing account or create a new one.

Will I get support?

Deakin staff are still responsible for the teaching, learning and assessment on FutureLearn and Deakin students continue to receive guidance and support from Deakin academics. New and existing students still have access to all available Deakin resources and services.

Can I try FutureLearn out for free?

Yes! You can get a taste of the Deakin learning experience on the FutureLearn platform by signing up to one of Deakin’s free two-week courses, delivered across a range of interesting topics.
