Deakin Centre for Smart Power and Energy Research
Innovating smarter energy systems for a sustainable tomorrow
How our research drives innovation for smarter energy systems
The Deakin Centre for Smart Power and Energy Research is dedicated to addressing the challenges of modern energy systems by driving innovation in renewable energy, energy storage and smart grids. We focus on building smarter, more sustainable energy systems to power our future. This includes making energy grids smarter, finding better ways to store renewable energy and ensuring that these systems are safe and reliable.
Our research areas
Our work focuses on future power grids, renewable energy and storage and cyber-physical systems, solving challenges to create more efficient energy solutions for a sustainable future.
Future power grid
We research next-generation power grids with distributed generators, microgrids and smart systems. Our work includes power system analysis, control and protection to enhance stability and security, ensuring these systems adapt to future energy demands.
Renewable energy and storage
We advance renewable energy technologies like solar, wind and EVs while solving grid integration challenges. Collaborating with industry and government, we enhance energy efficiency, reliability and stability to support large-scale renewable adoption.
Cyber-physical energy systems
Our research helps transform energy networks into smart grids by merging physical systems with digital intelligence. Our work integrates computing, control and engineering to develop secure, responsive systems that optimise energy delivery.
