Rowe Scientific Scholarship

The Rowe Scientific Scholarship was established to support a Deakin University student who is enrolled full-time in a chemistry or chemistry-related honours degree or the Masters of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, where the Masters project involves chemistry.

Applications for Trimester 2 2021 open 15 July 2021.

Applications for Trimester 2 2021 close 26 July 2021 5pm.


A one-off cash payment of $5000.

Eligibility criteria

Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.

To be eligible you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent Australian resident or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • be enrolled in a chemistry or chemistry-related honours degree (S400 or S401) or the Masters of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics (S772) where the Masters project involves chemistry
  • be enrolled full time in Trimester 2 2021
  • have a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70.

*Preference will be given to students who are able to demonstrate financial hardship or are from a rural or regional home location.


As a scholarship recipient you must  provide a photograph of yourself together with a statement addressing the question ‘What do you find most interesting about Chemistry?' for inclusion in the Rowe Scientific national newsletter.

When you apply for this scholarship, you'll need to supply evidence of your financial hardship (if applicable).

Make sure you choose the correct document type when you upload your documents as it will make a difference. If your documents are uploaded into the incorrect type they will not be considered when assessing your application. Remember it is quality, not quantity, which you need to provide. Aim to provide documents which are current, relevant and concise.

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the details you provide and your supporting documentation.

You'll find out if you were successful usually within four weeks of the application closing date. You can view the status of your application via your Deakin Scholarship Application Portal account.
