Williamson Family Placement Scholarship
Applications open Monday 8 September 2025 and close 5pm Wednesday 11 February 2026.
Generously funded by the Williamson Family, this scholarship helps Deakin medical students facing financial hardship undertake extended rural clinical placements. By easing the financial burden and provides the chance for students to immerse themselves in rural practice and make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of communities across regional and rural Victoria.
Value
- Cash payment of up to $6,000 per year. Total scholarship value of $6,000.
Duration
- This scholarship is offered for one year.
Am I eligible?
Ensure you meet all criteria before submitting an application. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:
- be a domestic student
- be enrolled full-time in your third or fourth year of the Doctor of Medicine (H911) in Semester 1, 2026
- be undertaking a 12-month placement at a Rural Clinical School
- have relocated to undertake your placement
- be experiencing an area of hardship affecting your studies.
Deakin alumni discount
If you are successful in receiving an offer for this scholarship and you are eligible for the Deakin alumni discount, you can only hold one. You will be asked to nominate which arrangement you would like to hold. If you do not make a nomination, the Deakin alumni discount will automatically be withdrawn.
Maintaining this scholarship
As a scholarship recipient, you:
- will be required to write an introduction statement about your goals for study and what it means to receive the scholarship
- must be enrolled full-time
- cannot intermit your studies.

Register and log in to Deakin's Scholarship Application Portal, then select 'Postgraduate Scholarship Application Tri/Sem 1 2026'. If eligible, your application will be considered for this scholarship and any others you may be eligible for.
Numbers are limited; not all eligible applicants will receive one. Successful applicants will be notified usually within four weeks. Unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
