Frequently asked questions

Where is Eastern Health Clinical School located?

EHCS comprises all the Eastern Health clinical locations. Students can be placed at any of our major or satellite sites during placements. MSP staff are on site at the acute campuses, including Box Hill, Maroondah and Angliss.

Where will I be placed if allocated to Eastern Health?

Deakin students undertake clinical placement at Box Hill Hospital in Year 3. Year 4 students take advantage of the many sites and specialist services available in Eastern Health to complete their studies with the pre-intern rotation undertaken in an acute hospital (usually Maroondah or Box Hill).

What can I expect to be doing day-to-day at EHCS?

Your day-to-day activities and hours will depend on which units you are allocated, you can expect to be present in the hospital on wards, theatre or clinics and attend classes in the simulation lab or tutorial rooms.

EHCS is a joint clinical school with Monash University, how does that work?

MSP is dedicated to providing each student cohort with the learning opportunities that address their curriculum and assessment needs. Most learning is done in small groups during placement on designated wards. The curricula of Monash and Deakin intersect and students are often brought together, such as for lectures and Megadays (in-depth focus sessions on a key area). Students interact with other students on placement in the hospital, providing rich and rewarding collaborations.
