You'll explore smart, sustainable, innovative design in a mixture of theory and practical learning – whether you're developing models, exploring urban ecologies or studying construction management. Our courses allow you to 'learn by doing' from day one, so upon graduation you can enter the workplace with the skills and confidence you need.

Undergraduate (your first degree)

An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

I really enjoyed all design studios as they allowed us to explore problem solving creatively both in individual and team scenarios.

'I've always been fascinated with the built environment and the ways in which buildings help shape the ways we live our lives. As such, pursuing a career which allows me to be directly involved in such a process has always been an exciting prospect to me.

Being able to complete a double bachelors degree in both Architecture and Construction Management at Deakin was something I found particularly attractive. Deakin is the only university that I am aware of that offered a double degree in Architecture and Construction Management. This made the decision an easy one. It allowed me to diversify my learning in a way that encouraged us to explore how one might design a piece of architecture, whilst also learning about implementing processes to see how it would be built.

Having given me the resources, information and opportunities to empower myself, Deakin has taught me to challenge and question what surrounds us in our everyday lives. An attribute which I hope to hold close to me as I further my career in Architecture / Construction Management.'
