Get work-ready

When you study law at Deakin you’ll be joining the ranks of our high-performing students to attend one of Victoria’s top law schools. Leading, practising lawyers help shape our courses, so everything you learn is relevant to the industry and prepares you for your career. You’ll get the robust training and recognised qualifications you need to launch your career as a first-class legal practitioner, as well as the real-world experience that employers look for in a competitive employment market.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Career opportunities

Ready for a rewarding legal career? The Juris Doctor can offer you unparalleled opportunities, from working within a small rural general-law practice to roles within large multinational organisations. Career opportunities may include:

  • academia
  • corporate lawyer
  • business (e.g. company administrator or business manager)

The JD Program has a practical focus. We help students develop skills, including advocacy, reasoning, critical thinking, informed advice, analysis and communication; all useful in their future employment and career.
