Order of Australia Association Foundation Scholarship

The Order of Australia Association Foundation Scholarships have been established to recognise, celebrate and encourage outstanding young Australian citizens to realise their potential to be leaders in tomorrow’s community. The purpose of the Scholarships is to assist such promising students who might otherwise have considerable financial difficulty in proceeding with their studies and thus not achieve their potential for the future benefit of Australia.

Benefits

This scholarship offers payments up to $20,000 per year for two years to assist with expenses related to your studies.

The total maximum value of this scholarship is $40,000.

Plus the opportunity to participate in an ongoing mentor relationship with a member of The Order of Australia who is eminent in your chosen field of study.

Eligibility criteria

Prospective candidates should ensure they meet all criteria before submitting their application.

To be eligible you must be:

  • an Australian citizen
  • aged between 20-29 as at 01 January 2023, or in your early thirties with exceptional circumstances
  • enrolled in the second year of study in S337 Bachelor of Marine Science in Trimester 2 2023 with the expectation to commence third year in T1 2024
  • enrolled full-time and expecting to continue in full time study to complete your degree
  • be enrolled in your first university degree
  • able to demonstrate high academic achievement in your tertiary studies
  • able to demonstrate qualities in leadership, initiative and involvement in community affairs
  • able to demonstrate your need for financial assistance to benefit from the completion of your course.

Conditions

As a scholarship recipient you must be prepared to attend the Annual Conference of The Order of Australia Association on 18 May 2024, in Perth where you will be presented with your scholarship by the Governor-General (or His representative).

As part of the application process, you will also be required to upload current supporting documentation.

When you apply for this scholarship, you'll need to supply the following:

  • A course map showing full-time study and your intention to complete your Bachelor of Marine Science at the end of 2023.
  • Evidence of your financial hardship
  • Evidence of your leadership roles
  • Evidence of your community service and/or volunteering experience.

The scholarship application process is highly competitive with a limited number of scholarships available. Unfortunately, not all eligible applicants will receive one.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview.

All applicants will be advised of the outcome of your application by the end of October 2023 via the email address nominated within your application.
