Background
Dr Simon Eassom is Global Manager of Education Solutions for IBM Smarter Cities, with a focus on enhancing education to employment frameworks. He has particular responsibility for IBM’s digital strategy in the higher education sector, and is deeply engaged in innovation and technology for education transformation. Simon has worked with IBM since 2005 in a range of senior positions in the Asia Pacific region.
Previously Simon was a successful Head of the School of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at De Montfort University Bedford. He has also held the portfolios of Head of Learning and Teaching, Chair of Research Ethics and Head of Student Experience. He successfully grew external income generation for the School, and led increased engagement with business and industry as well as developing international partnerships with universities in China.
Simon is a qualified teacher and holds a Bachelor of Education (Honours), a Master of Arts in philosophy and education and a PhD in philosophical ethics.
Simon is a member of the Finance and Business Affairs Committee.
