Message from the Vice-Chancellor (dKin Times alumni newsletter - August 2019)

Alumni news

27 August 2019

Welcome to the August edition of dKin Times.

During my first two months as Vice-Chancellor, I have been made to feel very welcome by our diverse and expansive community. I feel well and truly settled into my role, and was excited to attend my first Open Days at Deakin.

It is with wonder that I view the opportunities Deakin has for future students. It is our responsibility to prepare our students for the careers of tomorrow. With the innovation that is the hallmark of all areas of the University, I am sure our graduates will be ready for whatever the future has in store.

University study has changed so much in recent years, and I am optimistic to see what challenges tomorrow brings.

Soon I will be visiting India, my first international trip in this role, and I look forward to connecting with more of our alumni. Deakin’s alumni chapters provide essential support for our international initiatives and our recent events in China, Hong Kong, London, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore are a testament to this. I hope those who attended had a wonderful time and will be welcomed again in future.

Best wishes,

Iain

Professor Iain Martin
Vice-Chancellor
