Content

In this unit students explore the process of identifying potential users, market and technology opportunities to develop a product that is fit-for-purpose. The proposed process encourages applied research and project management through the development of a given product type via a specific design challenge. As a student undertaking this unit you will develop research, design and engineering skills through a practical industry-related example where consultation with key industry players and governance is essential for the successful development of a relevant and advanced product outcome. The assessment is based on how engineers and product developers work in industry: there is both individual and team components but you will be assessed independently. This is a practice-based unit so you and your team will work towards producing a minimum value proposition of a product solution that addresses the client's design criteria by the end of the trimester.
