Biography

Professor Lucinda Black is a nutrition scientist and Registered Nutritionist in the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia.

Lucinda’s research spans food composition, vitamin D and nutritional epidemiology. She leads the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Nutrition Research Program, which aims to elucidate the role of diet in MS to improve disease outcomes, and the Bush Tucker-Vitamin D project, which aims to promote vitamin D sufficiency among Aboriginal people. She works closely with the MS community and Aboriginal communities to ensure that her research meets their values and needs.

Lucinda completed her PhD at University College Cork in 2012 investigating dietary vitamin D in the Irish population. As lead investigator, she holds an MS Australia Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, NHMRC Ideas Grant and US National MS Society Project Grant, and has previously held an MSWA Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, MS Australia Project Grant and NHMRC Project Grant.
