- Hydrogen fuel cells, including PEM fuel cell modelling and testing, bipolar plate manufacturing and manufacturing process design (see metal forming research below).
- Sheet metal forming, including: cold and hot stamping; roll forming; micro and macro-scale; experimental analysis and numerical modelling
- Tool wear, tribology and lubrication, including: understanding fundamental wear mechanisms; abrasion and adhesion; numerical modelling of wear mechanisms (micro scale) and to predict wear behaviour (macro scale); wear monitoring
- Thermo-mechanical numerical modelling, including applications in cold and hot forming, micro-forming, temperature at wearing interfaces, thermal-mechanical-metallurgical process, automotive crash structures
- Condition-based monitoring and signal processing for wear in manufacturing processes
