Biography summary
I am a Senior Lecturer of Applied Artificial Intelligence within the School of Information Technology at Deakin University, Australia. In my role, I contribute to the school's research activities by leading research efforts and collaborating with peers and students. Currently, I co-lead the Machine Learning for Decision Support (MLDS) Group which core's objective is to design efficient and scalable data analysis and machine learning algorithms, encompassing descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics for large-scale datasets.
My research focuses on developing data-driven decision-making techniques to extract valuable knowledge from data. I explore a broad range of topics related to the data-driven fields of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Information Retrieval. I have applied analytical and algorithmic tools from these fields to real-world problems in diverse applications, such as recommender systems, interactive visual search interfaces, social network analysis, and data quality.
Prior to joining Deakin University, I was a Research Fellow at The University of Toronto (2017-2019) and at The University of Melbourne (2015-2017), and before that, I was a postdoc researcher at INRIA France (2014-2015). I earned a Ph.D. and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Paris-Saclay, France, respectively in 2013 and 2009, and a BSc in Computer Science from USTHB Algeria in 2008.
