Cotutelle PhD – one PhD across two universities

Our Cotutelle PhD initiative allows candidates to co-enrol at two universities in different countries, conducting research under a jointly supervised doctoral program with dual awards while being immersed in diverse research. The potential networking opportunities set you up for a truly global career. The program includes a scholarship, tuition fee waiver and funding to cover return airfare to travel between Deakin and the partner institution.

Do I meet the entry requirements?

Whatever your journey into research looks like, whether you plan to undertake a research degree or PhD, check out the minimum entry requirements to ensure you can express your interest in study with us.

Masters by research

To be eligible to apply for a masters by research, you must demonstrate research ability. This includes:

  • complying with the University’s English language requirements
  • completing a research project (including a thesis), equivalent to at least 25% of your studies at level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework
  • achieving a grade for this prior research project of 65% (Deakin grade) or equivalent.

If you haven’t completed a prior research project, you must submit additional evidence of demonstrated equivalent prior learning and research experience.

PhD

To be eligible to apply for a PhD, you must meet the following minimum entry requirements:

  • evidence of English language standard for academic study in Australia
  • academic achievement equivalent to H1A (level 8 or 9 of the Australian Qualifications Framework).
