Meet the expert

Damien Smith AM (LLB, B. Com, FAICD, FIML, FGIA, FCIS, CAHRI) is the Founder and Managing Director of Enterprise Care. He is also the Principal of Damien J Smith Lawyers and an acknowledged whole of organisation governance expert. His recently published ebook Unintentional Dishonesty? Governance Sans Frontieres offers critical insights into systems and whole of organisation thinking.

How you'll learn

This short course includes four online masterclasses. Learn directly with industry experts in small groups to build your own expertise and incorporate relevant industry knowledge and skills in your context. You are required to attend all masterclasses

What you’ll learn

During the short course you’ll:

  • look at why present governance practices are failing and how governance differs from whole of organisation governance
  • identify governance failures and set strategic objectives for your organisation, exploring collective wisdom, systems thinking and eco-systems
  • learn about independence and integration of governance practices, the role of principles in governance practices and the approach to risk and compliance management
  • discuss embedding transparency, openness and accountability, and organisational capabilities.

How you’re assessed

Prepare a written report and deliver an oral 10 to 12-minute class presentation on how a whole of organisation governance perspective impacts stakeholders, including what it means for their roles, responsibilities and participation.

Entry requirements

To be successful we recommend you are proficient in English and have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a related field or significant work experience.
