 academic transcript  A chronological record of a student's enrolment and official assessment results in units and courses
 Academic Board  The principal academic authority within the University, with responsibility for maintaining standards in teaching and research training
 academic year  The period from the first day of the first trimester of any year to the day preceding the first day of the first trimester of the following year, inclusive of both.

 AD(D&P)  Associate Dean (Development and Partnerships)

 advanced standing  A collective term including both credit transfer and credit for prior learning. It means credit granted towards a course at the University for relevant approved study, experience or work satisfactorily completed at the University or elsewhere

 AEI  Australian Education International
 ALA  Australian Leadership Awards
 alternative unit  A unit which a student undertakes in place of another unit from which the student is precluded on the basis of existing knowledge or skills
 ALTC awards  Australian Learning and Teaching Council awards (previously known as Carrick awards)
 Alumni  Graduates of a university are Alumni (plural) but a graduate is an Alumnus (singular).

 articulation  The mechanism that enables students to proceed from one course to another sometimes, but not necessarily, with credit

 assessment  The evaluation of a student's overall academic performance in a unit
 ASW  Academic Support Worker
 ATAR An ATAR is the overall percentile ranking for students in their final year of secondary school in Australia, that reflects the individual's performance comparative to other students in the same year.ATAR's for 2011
