Your experiences, your ideas: join the DRC symposium
Have ideas about making Deakin more accessible and inclusive? Your experiences could help others see things differently.
Expressions of interest are now open for students to contribute to Student Voices, Shared Futures, a student-led symposium hosted by the Disability Resource Centre (DRC).
Taking place on Wednesday 2 December 2026 at Waurn Ponds Estate and online, the symposium will bring students and staff together to share experiences, learn from each other and explore ideas for more inclusive education and university life.
Students will lead the conversations, and you could be part of them.
Share your experience or ideas
Maybe you’ve navigated an Access Plan, accessed support during placement or encountered barriers in everyday university life. You might have ideas about what makes a space feel inclusive, or an initiative you’d like others to hear about.
The symposium will explore six themes:
- Understanding Access Plans
- Placement experiences and challenges
- Everyday barriers and their impact
- Disabilities that may not be immediately apparent
- Communication that creates inclusion
- What inclusive physical and digital spaces feel like.
By sharing your perspective, you could help students and staff better understand these experiences and consider what could change.
How can I get involved?
Start by submitting an expression of interest. Visit the symposium page to explore opportunities to contribute, find out what’s involved and learn how to apply.
Expressions of interest close Thursday 29 October 2026.
