Studying abroad at Ewha Womans University and living in South Korea for a month has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed into a vibrant culture filled with rich history, incredible food, and genuinely kind people. Whether I was exploring Seoul, trying authentic Korean dishes, or experiencing traditions firsthand, every day brought a new opportunity to learn. One of the most memorable parts of my journey was the friendships I made with students from around the world. Sharing experiences, learning about different cultures, and supporting each other created connections that I know will last a lifetime.

This experience has helped me grow both personally and academically. Living independently in a new country challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, become more adaptable, and develop a greater appreciation for cultural diversity. As a student, studying at Ewha broadened my perspective and inspired me to approach my education with greater curiosity and confidence. If you ever have the opportunity to study abroad, take it. It is more than just studying in another country, it is an experience that shapes who you are, creates unforgettable memories, and gives you skills and friendships that will stay with you for life. I truly cannot recommend it enough.

Thank you, Deakin Abroad, for making opportunities like this possible!

Describe the city you were living in: the landscape, the culture, the weather etc.

Seoul is one of the most vibrant and welcoming cities I've ever experienced. It beautifully blends modern skyscrapers with ancient palaces, creating a unique mix of history and innovation wherever you go. Summer can be hot and humid, with frequent rain, but the city's energy more than makes up for it. One of my favourite things about Seoul was the food. From bustling night markets and street food stalls to long-established local restaurants, there was always something delicious to try at an affordable price. Whether you enjoy exploring cultural landmarks, shopping, or discovering new cuisines, Seoul has something for everyone. My time there had a lasting impact on me, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Did you go on any memorable trips to explore your host country or maybe a nearby country?

One of my most memorable experiences was visiting Busan with my mum. Ever since watching 'Train to Busan' in 2017, it had been a dream destination of mine, so sharing the trip with her made it even more special. We took an early KTX train before joining a full-day tour of the city's highlights. We visited the stunning Oryukdo Islands, walked across the Cheongsapo Daritdol Skywalk, enjoyed fresh seafood for lunch, and rode the Haeundae Blue Line Park Sky Capsule with incredible coastal views. We also explored the colourful Huinnyeoul and Gamcheon Cultural Villages, filled with cafés, art, and history. It was an unforgettable day, and I'm so grateful we could experience it together.

What's your one piece of advice for a student who is preparing to study abroad? How should they prepare?

My biggest piece of advice is simple: don't let worry stop you from enjoying the experience. Before leaving, I spent months stressing about everything from flights, classes, making friends and even losing my passport. Looking back, these fears never happened. It's completely normal to feel anxious, but instead of letting it overwhelm you, use it to stay organised, prepared, and proactive. There will be challenges and unexpected moments, but that's all part of the adventure. Trust yourself! You've already shown you're capable by taking the leap to study abroad. As John Lennon said, 'Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.' Enjoy every moment, you'll create memories that last a lifetime.
