One year abroad! I don’t even know where to start, it was the most incredible experience. My mum studied in Lund, so it was fun to reconnect with my Swedish heritage. I met some of the most amazing people that I could imagine my life without. I travelled to 12 countries, Finnish Lapland was my favourite despite the 30-hour bus ride from Lund… The northern lights, the karaoke bar, the reindeer and of course the people on the trip made it all worth it!!
The student life in Lund is amazing. There was always something happening, and I loved getting involved in different nations where I made both Swedish and international friends. The most memorable experience from my exchange was being a part of the Lundakarnvelen, which only happens every 4 years! I was placed in a group with 30 strangers, and we hung out for 3 months straight building a themed parade float for the carnival. I made friendships for life. During the carnival we partied on our float showing our work and performed to half a million people as we toured around the streets of Lund.
I loved my time in Lund, but what made it incredibly special for me was the people I met along the way. Moving abroad was a scary experience I was anxious that it would be hard to make friends, but everyone was in the same position, you must be brave and put yourself out there. You miss all the shots you don’t take!
I had the absolute time of my life, and I wouldn’t change anything I did. Moving abroad was a life altering experience and something I will always cherish. Live love laugh Lund!
