Wellbeing Live Chat

Wellbeing Live Chat will return in 2026. If you need mental health support, reach out to the services listed at the bottom of the page.

Need to talk to someone about how you're feeling? Out new Wellbeing Live Chat service for Deakin students is now available. Ask a question about your mental health and receive a real-time answer. This service is provided by mental health professionals in our team – it is not computer- or AI-generated.

Support services 

After-hours support (to talk to someone now)

For Deakin after-hours mental health support, call 1300 239 002 or text 0485 829 309 (5pm–9am weekdays, and 24hrs across weekends, public holidays and University shutdown periods).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students can call 13 YARN for 24/7 crisis support. GIFT City Campus students can access 24/7 online support through Workplace Options.

You can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14 (24 hours, 7-days-a-week) or use the chat on their website (7pm–4am, 7-days-a-week).

Meet with Deakin Counselling (to talk to someone soon)

Deakin counsellors provide free and confidential psychological support for all students located in Australia. Appointments can be in person, or via video or phone.

Ask a non-urgent question (and read helpful resources)

Visit Ask Counselling to ask a question about your mental health and wellbeing and a Deakin counsellor will post a de-identified response within 72 hours.
