Rema
Bachelor of Data Science (Honours)
T2 2025 Mentor, T1 2026 Mentor
Hi everyone, my name is Rema, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Data Science (Honours) at Deakin University. I chose peer mentoring because starting university can feel unfamiliar, and sometimes what helps most is hearing from someone who has already experienced that journey.
I especially looked forward to the 2026 program, as it created opportunities not just for weekly sessions but for building a supportive community where students could connect, have open conversations, and grow together.
My tip for new students would be don't get too stressed or overwhelmed in the beginning. It takes time to adjust, and that’s completely okay. Take things step by step and make the most of programs like peer mentoring to support your journey.
A few fun facts about me; I transitioned from a business background to data science because of my interest in how data analytics supports business decision-making. I am also pursuing a Finance minor, which connects well with both areas. Outside of academics, I enjoy writing poems, and I love public speaking; being on stage and speaking in front of people is something I really enjoy. Give me a mic, and I’m always excited to speak and connect with people.
