SEBE Peer Mentor Program

Our peer mentoring program can make your first trimester less stressful and more enjoyable. Get a mentor or be a mentor and help other students succeed.

SEBE Peer Mentor Program

The SEBE Peer Mentoring Program supports students in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment (SEBE) to succeed with tips and advice from experienced students.

There are a few ways you can get involved.

  • Be a mentee – new students will automatically be allocated to a group when they commence their studies. Check your Deakin email ahead of your first day to find instructions on how to access your group.
  • Be a mentor– apply to join the program as a mentor, support your fellow students and develop your professional skills.
  • Ask a mentor – submit a question at any stage of your degree and get help from one of our friendly mentors.

Be a mentee

  • Participate and take advantage of our peer mentoring program
  • Have your questions answered by a Faculty peer mentor.
  • Learn through your mentor's experience in overcoming the challenges of studying at university.
  • Discover all the great services and opportunities available at Deakin.
  • Develop a professional and social network.

This program is for SEBE students in their first trimester. Each week your mentor will discuss topics, including uni life, academic support and making the most of your time at Deakin.

If you are in your first trimester of study, check your Deakin email for instructions. If you haven’t received the email, or you would like to be a mentee in the program, you can apply here.

Be a mentor

  • Develop and demonstrate your employability skills (communication, leadership, teamwork, intercultural and interpersonal skills).
  • Receive exclusive access to professional development and training.
  • Develop a professional and social network.
  • Maintain a sense of achievement about helping others.

As a mentor, you will be provided with training and ongoing professional development opportunities to ensure you are confident in your role.

Registrations for Trimester 2 close Sunday 4 June.
