Apply to become a SEBE Faculty Peer Mentor

Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment students only.

To be eligible to apply to be a mentor you must:

  • have completed at least two trimesters of study at Deakin (undergraduate)
  • have completed at least one trimester of study at Deakin (postgraduate)
  • have achieved a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 or above in your last two trimesters of study
  • be available to attend one of the compulsory training days for the relevant trimester (see table below)
    Mentors who have attended full day training in the past only need to attend half day training prior to each trimester they will be mentoring in.
  • obtain a free Working with Children Check (WWC) for Volunteers
    • OR a Police Clearance Check from your country's National Police Force that has been obtained within the month prior to submitting your Mentor application. If your documents are not in English, you will need to supply a certified English translation
  • be available throughout the first 5 weeks of trimester to conduct weekly catch-ups (approximately 2 hours per week). Mentors are also encouraged to participate in additional program offerings throughout the trimester.

T1 2026: now closed.

T2 2026: Open Monday 2 March 2026 until Sunday 17 May 2026.

Successful applicants must be available for a training day on Tuesday 16 June 2026 (Burwood Campus), Wednesday 17 June 2026 (Geelong campuses) or Thursday 18 June 2026 (online/Warrnambool students only).

T3 2026: Open Monday 6 July 2026 until Sunday 20 September 2026.

Successful applicants must be available for a training day on Tuesday 6 October 2026 (held online).

You will be notified of the outcome after the application closing date.

Applicants will usually be contacted two weeks prior to the scheduled training date and advised of the outcome of your application.

Applicants may be required to attend a group interview as part of the recruitment process.
