Assets and resources

In some units, you will be provided with a worksheet or workbook within PebblePad - these are templates to guide your learning. A workbook might contain a number of worksheets for you to complete, or placeholders for you to create your own page, blog or collection within the workbook. You can access the workbook in your custom resources (accessible from your PebblePad homepage) once you start completing the workbook. Note that not all units will use worksheets or workbooks - if you aren't sure, ask your unit chair.

Use the 'Get Creative' tab on the PebblePad homepage to start building your own assets, including pages, portfolios, blogs, collections and activity logs. Check out the videos in the Learning Centre (also accessible from the homepage) for some ideas on how to get started. You can also access tips and suggestions when creating your asset by clicking on the blue 'Help' button in the bottom right corner.

You can add images, videos and other files to your portfolio or workbook, by uploading them to your asset store. You can do this from within your Asset store by clicking on the 'Upload file' button. You can also do this within an asset you are creating (e.g. a page, portfolio or workbook) by selecting the 'Open asset store' button and clicking on 'Upload new' or 'Would you like to upload?'. You can then either drag and drop the files you wish to add, or browse for them on your device. Make sure you give each asset a clear and relevant title, and tag it appropriately, so you can find it easily next time you need it.

When you add or create assets, you can add tags to help you manage and search for these later. We recommend that you add tags to your assets as this will make things a lot easier when you have lots of different assets gathered throughout your course. You can use tags to search for assets within your Asset store, and to automatically create collections of assets related to a particular topic or skill (e.g. my communication skills). Suggested tags include: unit code, the skill (e.g. coding, communication, teamwork) or experience (e.g. placement, volunteering, group project) to which the asset relates.

To add tags to an asset, click the 'I want to' button and select 'Tag'. When you start typing in the tag field, PebblePad will prompt you with tags you've used in the past using the letters you've typed. In some cases, you might find that your unit chair has pre-loaded some tags for you to get you started.

Use the blue 'Save' button at the top of the screen to save your work. PebblePad does not save automatically so make sure you save your work regularly - you will receive reminders to save if you haven't saved your work for a while.
