Make friends, get active and connect at Walk’ n’ Talk

Looking for an easy way to stay active, meet new people and reset your mind during Trimester 2?

Walk ‘n’ Talk is back at Burwood and Waurn Ponds – kicking off in Week 4 as part of T2 Mind Matters.

These weekly walks are designed to help you stretch your legs, breathe in the fresh air, get a little vitamin D and enjoy a relaxed chat with other students. Whether you’ve got time before class or need a break between lectures, it’s a simple way to support your mental and physical wellbeing right here on campus.

Guided by students, for students

Each walk is led by our friendly student Wellbeing Ambassadors. They’ll guide you through scenic campus spots while keeping things easy, welcoming and pressure-free. Come solo or bring a friend – there’s no awkward icebreakers or expectations, just good conversation and fresh air.

Our ambassadors are great listeners too. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, adjusting to uni life or simply keen for connection, they understand what student life is really like and are always happy to chat.

Meet our lived experience storytellers

Throughout the series, trained lived experience storytellers will regularly join the walks. These are Deakin students who have navigated challenges with their physical or mental health and learned how to thrive.

You’ll have the opportunity to hear their stories in a safe, supportive environment – or simply chat with them one-on-one if you’d prefer. It’s a powerful reminder that you’re not alone, and that growth is possible even during difficult seasons.
