Walk'n'Talk

Led by Student Wellbeing Ambassadors, our casual weekly walks encourage you to get some fresh air and exercise while you meet other students and explore your campus.

Walk'n'Talk

Research tells us that taking a break outside in nature boosts your mental health and wellbeing, reduces stress, rests your mind and improves your concentration and creativity.

While studying, it can be tricky to find time to be active outside, as well as meet and talk to new people.

Just 20 minutes outside can be as energising as a cup of coffee. So, we encourage you to meet new people and fit in some exercise between classes with our Walk’n’Talk sessions!

Starting in Week 4 of each trimester at Burwood, Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool, join our Walk’n’Talk program and take a 30- to 40-minute stroll through some of the scenic spots at your campus while chatting with your peers. You might discuss your studies, your weekend plans or the TV series you’re currently binge-watching – whatever you like!

Leading the way will be our trained Deakin Student Wellbeing Ambassadors, who are a great starting point if you need any advice about how to cope with uni. Ask them anything you like and they will be able to talk through things with you from a student perspective.

The walks are fully accessible and you’ll be getting plenty of fresh air as you move your body and clear your mind, so we encourage everyone to take this opportunity to incorporate some extra activity into your day when you’re on campus.

And if the weather is too wild? We’ll head to the nearest café and you will receive a FREE drink voucher so we can chat over a hot beverage!

Register for some or all the walks at your campus – we’ll send you a reminder email for each walk before the day.
