Global Experiential Learning

Experiential learning at its best

Global Experiential Learning (GEL) engages Deakin students through Work Integrated Learning, Social Impact Programs and our High Achieving Series in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. Make yourself stand out on the job market while gaining course credit as you try one (or more) of our programs.

GEL programs are typically of 2-4 weeks’ duration. They are run twice a year: over the June/July inter-trimester break and during the November-February (T3) period. Applications open in March and August respectively. Funding may also be available.

Your GEL experience can include the following:

Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Think: Internship, real-world experience with some of the best companies around the world

Social Impact Programs
Think: Community development, health promotion, environmental justice, United Nations SD Goals

High Achiever Series
Think: Selective research opportunities, prominent internships, global conferences

Below is the list of GEL programs, unit information, and the credit level or equivalent unit of study information. Please click on the link of the program of your choice, and you'll be taken to the program brochure. The brochure has specific information and the link to the application form. Lodging an application only takes a few minutes. Once you have applied, Deakin Abroad will contact you with the next steps within 5 business days.

Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Deakin will be opening up GEL programs in a gradual, measured way.
