Short Term Partner Programs

Short term experiences with a long term impact

UPDATE from Deakin Abroad (21 January 2021): COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to cause uncertainty around the world, leading to the Australian Governments issuing a worldwide travel advisory of “Do not travel”. Due to the high level of uncertainty, the university has decided to suspend ALL face-to-face global mobility programs scheduled to commence in or prior to October 2021. The decision on when travel will recommence will be reviewed closer to October.

At this stage, we are unable to confirm your plans to study overseas in 2022. Applications for exchange in 2022 will not open until the Australian Government travel restrictions allow international travel. We appreciate that this is inconvenient and recognise that the COVID 19 situation is very fluid in several countries across the globe. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide a 2022 update as soon as possible.

In the meantime please check our virtual study options listed below.

Short Term Partner Programs are intensive global learning options to progress your degree during the June/July break and T3. These two- to six-week programs are offered by Deakin’s partner universities or approved hosts. Past programs include Psychology in the Netherlands, Healthcare in the UK, Law in Denmark or Finance in China.

You must have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 unless otherwise stated. Some discretion may apply to this requirement; please email Deakin Abroad to discuss. If you are undertaking your final unit abroad, your attendance at a graduation ceremony may be delayed due to your host university releasing results at conflicting times. By proceeding with a Short Term Partner Program application, you acknowledge that you will need to attend the next available graduation ceremony.

  • There are two types of short term partner programs:
    • Exchange: You pay tuition fees to Deakin University as per normal but pay all associated program costs directly to your host institution.
    • Study Abroad: You pay tuition fees and all associated program costs directly to your host institution.

Please refer to the specific program brochure to find out whether your program is Exchange or Study Abroad.
