Global Education Program (GEP) and International Initial Teacher Discovery (IITD)

Global Education Program

The Global Education Program provides an experience of living and teaching in a regional town and remote community in Australia. There are many highlights of this program including engaging with local communities and experiencing their generosity in sharing their community and the opportunity to teach indigenous students and learn from them.

This experience equips pre-service teachers with strategies to teach Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and to develop respect and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

International Initial Teacher Discovery

The International Initial Teacher Discovery program offers an exciting opportunity for you to experience teaching amongst alternative cultures via immersive and supported learning experiences. The IITD allows you to complete a third-year placement unit in an international setting.

This international teaching placement involves both cultural negotiation and understanding, the development of new, and refinement of existing, pedagogical knowledge, skills, and dispositions. This results in the development of a broader range of teaching and learning approaches and a more global perspective on education.

This immersive program will allow you to grow your capabilities through cultural immersion, allowing you to develop powerful teaching strategies, refine your existing skills and unlock career opportunities.
