About

If you're a psychology, health sciences, public health or health promotion professional interested in helping Deakin students to enhance their employability, we'd love to hear from you.

Deakin's Health Career Mentoring is a four-month program that matches motivated, final-year undergraduate Faculty of Health students enrolled in non-clinical courses with experienced industry mentors, to help them gain insight and enhance their graduate employability.

Benefits

By mentoring a Deakin student, you can:

  • share your experience and expertise
  • develop your leadership skills
  • have a positive impact on a student's journey
  • help students develop their industry acumen and employability skills
  • help create a pipeline of students into your industry/organisation to ensure long-term workforce sustainability.

Mentor testimonials

"Through the sharing of personal experience, two-way reflection guidance, the Health Career Mentoring Program was an opportunity to positively influence a student embarking on their professional journey."

"This program was a fantastic way to support new graduates in my field. I gained a lot from the discussions with my mentee as I was able to reflect on my career journey, experienced and learnings and shared these with someone who could benefit from what I could share. I also felt very honoured to be able to support my mentee to apply, prepare for and successfully gain employment in a role that was directly relevant to her interest areas, skill set and new qualification. I think the mentoring program did a fantastic job at pairing us together and providing the opportunity, space and support for a strong mentoring relationship to occur. We will continue to stay in touch as I'm very keen to follow her career journey in her new role and am confident we will continue to cross paths in future in our careers."

"The program was a wonderful opportunity to share experiences and aspirations. It was a great privilege to provide guidance and support for others."
