The Learning Space is a great learning facility for students:

  • private rooms for group work or small meetings, each with LCD flat-panel monitors. Make a booking by calling The Learning Space.
  • quiet individual zones
  • open collaborative areas
  • drop in to the Writing Mentors for assignment help
  • computers with printing facilities
  • power and wireless access for laptops and devices
  • a café with indoor and outdoor seating.

How to book a learning pod in Waurn Ponds

1. Open the Deakin Outlook web app
2. Select Calendar on the top right of your screen
3. At the top left of your screen, click New event
4. Name your booking in the Event line – something general such as ‘study session’ is fine, you do not have to use your name
5. On the Attendee line, invite a Learning Pod to your booking by clicking the + symbol
6. To the left of your screen, in the Search people box, type any of the below learning pod room numbers:


7. Click the magnifying glass symbol and then select your room from the list by clicking +. You may also like to add classmates as additional attendees at this stage
8. Once you have added a Learning Pod and any other required attendees, click OK on the top left of your screen
9. Finally, click Send and check your inbox for an email advising you if your booking has been accepted.

Here are some extra tips:

  • Use the Scheduling assistant at the top of screen to check if your desired time is available before submitting your request
  • If your booking is declined, someone else might be using the room at that time. Try a different Learning Pod or alter the time and/or date
  • When you arrive at your booked Learning Pod, select Confirm on the touch screen
  • You can also make on-the-spot bookings using the Learning Pod touch screens.
