Letter requests and documentation

Any official documents you may need, can be accessed through StudentConnect or Student Central.

The letters available to you will depend on whether you are a domestic or international student and the date within the study period. See below for a list of all letters available.

Academic transcripts, testamurs or Australian higher education graduation statements (AHEGS)

If you are a current student and need either a digital or printed copy of your Academic Transcript, visit the Academic documents webpage.

If you are about to graduate, you can find out more about receiving your Academic transcript, Testamurs and Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) by visiting Graduate documents.

Certified documents

Certified documents are photocopies that have been sighted along with the original document. There are some members of Deakin staff who can make statutory declarations, certified documents and/or affidavits.

For information on certifying documents, refer to certified document services at Deakin or the Victorian Department of Justice and Regulation to find a Justice of the Peace.

Changing citizenship status

International to Permanent Australian Resident

You will be required to show proof of your Permanent Resident status to your faculty who will then complete a course transfer form.

The faculty will determine if it will be a domestic fee paying place or a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) depending on availability.

Permanent Australian Resident to Australian citizen

You must email through a certified copy of your Australian citizen certificate to fees@deakin.edu.au, alternatively you can visit any Student Central hub. Once it's processed, you will receive an email (only through your Deakin email) advising of the next steps. The process can take up to 5 days.

Course completion and graduation letters

Course completion

A Course Completion letter will confirm that you have met course requirements and the date of your graduation ceremony.

Domestic students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu. This letter is only available when your course status is completed and the graduation fee has been paid, if attending a ceremony.

International students will receive a Course Completion letter in the mail when their course status changes to 'Completed' in StudentConnect.

If you haven't received your Course Completion letter or need one urgently, you can contact Student Central to have one printed for you.

Evidence of forthcoming graduation ceremony

This letter for international students confirms your eligibility to graduate and the date of your graduation ceremony.

International students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Course progression

This letter for international students confirms your enrolment and summarises your progress within your course.

International students can print this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Please note: this letter will not be available on the day of result release.

Evidence of enrolment (EOE)

Domestic students

The following letter types are available to confirm aspects of your enrolment status.

  • Print evidence of enrolment - You can run this summary from StudentConnect. Select ‘Print evidence of enrolment’ from the Enrolment sub-menu. This report summarises your enrolment for the current Academic year. It lists your currently enrolled units codes, the study periods you are enrolled in, credit point and EFTSL values and the status of the unit. This is useful if you need to provide evidence of your current enrolment status to places like Centrelink.
  • Student Confirmation (course) - You can run this letter from StudentConnect. Select ‘Letter Generation’ under the Enrolment sub menu, then ‘Student Confirmation’. This is a brief letter to confirm the commencement date of your course and the course you are enrolled in.
  • Evidence of enrolment – Units - You can run this letter from StudentConnect. Select ‘Letter Generation’ under the Enrolment sub menu, then ‘Evidence of Enrolment - Units’. This is a brief letter to confirm the commencement date of your course, the units you are enrolled in and the study period dates.

International students

The following letter types are available to confirm aspects of your enrolment status.

  • Print evidence of enrolment - You can run this summary from StudentConnect. Select ‘Print evidence of enrolment’ from the Enrolment sub-menu. This report summarises your enrolment for the current Academic year.   • Student Confirmation (course) - You can run this letter from StudentConnect. Select ‘Letter Generation’ under the Enrolment sub menu, then ‘Student Confirmation’. This is a brief letter to confirm the commencement date of your course, the course you are enrolled in and whether you are studying part-time or full-time
  • Evidence of enrolment – campus and your address - You can run this letter from StudentConnect. Select ‘Letter Generation’ under the Enrolment sub menu, then ‘Evidence of Enrolment – Campus and Address’. This is a brief letter to confirm the commencement date of your course, whether you are studying part-time or full-time and your addresses as currently recorded by Deakin.

Exam and result release date

This letter for international students confirms your exam period and the release date of your results.

International students can produce this in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Please note: this letter will is only available after the trimester/semester census date.

Extending your visa

A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) provides various Government Departments important information about your enrolment with Deakin University as an international student.

Visit the compliance and visas page to apply for a CoE extension.

Inter and intra trimester/semester break confirmation

This letter is for international students and confirms the current study period for inter and intra trimester/semester.

International students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Release letter

It's important for international students to read the release guidelines before applying for a release.

You can contact a Compliance Officer or visit them at the drop-in centre (Burwood only) in Student Central if you need assistance.

Language of instruction

This letter is for international students and states that the course they undertook was taught in the English language.

International students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Please note: this letter will not be available until your course has been completed and you have graduated.

Letter delivery status

You can find out the delivery status and other information about documents you've requested by contacting Student Central.

Living expenses

International students can produce a letter if you need a statement providing an summary of the current average student living costs in Australia.

This can be produced in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Notarising academic transcripts and testamurs

If you need to comply with foreign requirements you can have your academic transcript and/or Testamur notarised by Student Central. You can send through your documents via post or in person.

Overseas exchange travel concession

This letter provides evidence of enrolment as an overseas exchange student for PTV purposes.

International students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.

Preferred payment method

This letter states Deakin’s preferred payment method for payments from overseas for current International students.

International students can produce this letter in StudentConnect via the 'Letter generation' page under the Enrolment sub-menu.
