There may be times we feel lost, disconnected or overwhelmed. It is not always easy to find the help we may need. This page has been developed as a resource for HDR students and lists services available to support student mental health and wellbeing.

Services
Counselling and Psychological Support (CAPS)
Free confidential counselling and support from highly-skilled psychologists and social workers who have experience supporting HDR students completing a research degree. They can help you with a broad spectrum of personal, work and study related issues.
CAPS is available to students located within Australia. If you reside overseas, please contact your local health practitioner for further advice and support.
Medical Centres
A confidential medical service for all current students and staff. Medical Centres are located at each campus and staffed by qualified and experienced doctors and nurses.
Safer Community
A Deakin wide service to keep all campuses safe. If you are worried about someone or something just doesn’t feel quite right, contact Safer Community for support, advice or information.
Specialist services

Multifaith chaplains and dedicated prayer space - available on each campus
Employee Wellbeing Support (EWS)
This free Deakin staff program is available to HDR students. Just mention you are a HDR student to access your six free confidential sessions.

An online collection of anonymous student questions and answers from Deakin counsellors. You can search by topics (for example anxiety, loneliness or family problems) or ask your own question for a personalised reply.
