Examination outcomes

Thesis examiniations outcomes

Following review of the thesis, examiners must recommend one of the following outcomes:

Outcome 1 The thesis is passed with no requirement for correction other than minor typographical and editorial matters, to be addressed within 10 working days of receiving the examination outcome, to the satisfaction of the Graduate Research Coordinator.
Outcome 2 The thesis is passed subject to content, textual and/or structural amendments (that does not change the central argument or key conclusions of the thesis) being made within a maximum of four months of the date of receiving the examination outcome, to the satisfaction of the Graduate Research Coordinator.
Outcome 3 The thesis is not passed, with the examiners’ assessment identifying that the thesis requires major or substantive amendments. The graduate research candidate is permitted to revise the thesis for re-examination.
Outcome 4 The thesis is not passed (with no possibility of re-submission).

Thesis mark (Master's only)

For a thesis submitted for a Master's degree, the examiners will also provide a numeric mark for the thesis, based on a provided rubric.
