Study Support appointments

What to expect from a Study Support appointment

When you make a Study Support appointment, you will meet with a staff member from our Study Support team. They can help you understand your assessment tasks and provide feedback on planning, writing and revising for assessments. They can also suggest strategies to help you further develop your writing and study skills.

1:1 appointments are held online via Microsoft Teams – book now using the link below. If you need a quiet place to attend your appointment, you can book a space on campus.

What we do

  • Help you to develop the academic skills to be successful in your studies.
  • Share study skills and strategies for success including resources and workshops.
  • Provide early feedback on a short sample of writing. However, we DO NOT provide detailed feedback on assessments, not do we proofread assessments.

Making the most of your appointment

To get the most out of your time with us, you should:

  • Email your assessment task question and/or draft directly to the adviser. It doesn’t matter what stage you are up to!
  • Make a list of questions to ask.
  • Decide which section of your work you want to focus on – we only give feedback on a short section of work, not entire assessments.
  • Find a quiet space for your online consultation.
  • To get the most out of your appointment, check that you have a reliable internet connection, and that your device, camera and audio is working.
  • Have your unit guide and assessment instructions open on your computer to share.
