How to apply

  1. Attend a compulsory information session or view the recorded information session

You must begin your application process by attending a compulsory information session. This session will outline the programs available, eligibility requirements and available funding.

Register now for an upcoming session

  2. Check your eligibility

Before you make an initial exchange appointment, we suggest you check your eligibility for a trimester exchange.

  3. Book your initial exchange appointment

If you believe you are eligible for a trimester exchange, make an initial exchange appointment with a student adviser at Student Central who will assess your course map to confirm your eligibility for exchange. Ensure you book your appointment within the date range on the exchange application timetable.

  4. Research and choose your destination

Once you’ve been advised by Student Central of the units you have available for exchange, you can begin researching where you would like to study. Consider the destinations available as well as the institutions, and also check the institution course catalogue to make sure they offer suitable units during the study period you plan to go on exchange.

    Browse destinations

  5. If you need help or guidance

If you're unsure about the process, can't find where you want to go or you're just having trouble researching, reach out to the Deakin Abroad team who can guide you, and also save you time.

  6. Get your outgoing study plan (OSP) approved

Once you’ve decided where you would like to study, you must complete an outgoing study plan (OSP) and have it approved. Your OSP will outline the units/spaces you have available for exchange, and the host university units you will be studying. Completing your OSP can be a time-consuming process, so don’t leave it until the last minute. You can find host institution course catalogues online, but Deakin Abroad can help if you need more detail.

Your OSP needs to be approved and signed by a student adviser.

Download the outgoing study plan template

  7. Submit your application on the Deakin Abroad portal

Once your OSP has been approved, you can submit your application in the application portal. Make sure you answer all of the questions, including adding your approved OSP apply before the application deadline.
