Business Internship Experience

What is Business Internship Experience?

This innovative program is a business internship simulation (not an external internship) developed by industry professionals and delivered entirely at the Burwood campus. It provides a simulated business experience working within a team on a real-life industry project, through to presentation of project outcomes to a management board.

You will work in a team to engage with a real company to develop a solution for a business problem they have identified within their business. You will receive academic supervision assisting you to successfully develop and present your project and/or proposal to the company.

Who can apply?

This program is open to postgraduate students who have successfully completed 6 credit points, and who have a postgraduate elective available.

Please contact a Student Adviser at buslaw@deakin.edu.au to ensure that MWL701 fits into your study plan.

How to apply

Applications for Trimester 3 2019 are now closed.

Please note that entry into this unit is by competitive application only – you must submit an application to be considered. The unit is locked and cannot be added on StudentConnect.

Places in this unit are limited and preference will be given to MBA International (M751) and Master of Health and Human Services Management (H756) students, and to students in their final trimester of study.

Important information

This unit has compulsory attendance requirements - students will be required to attend each scheduled weekly class on-campus at Burwood for a full day per week (8 hours). This is a strict requirement of the unit, and non-attendance without prior approval will impact on unit completion requirements.

Please note: In replicating a work environment, this unit requires students to conduct themselves in a professional manner, including wearing business attire and exhibiting appropriate workplace behaviours.

T3 experiences are run in "intensive" mode, and conclude in the first week of December. Therefore, the attendance requirement is more than one day per week in these intensive offerings.
