You can book an appointment with a nurse for the following:

• Mental health conversation and referral
• Health coaching
• Preventative health
• General wellbeing chat.

Nurse practitioner services

Nurse practitioners offer more advanced services. You can make an appointment with a nurse practitioner for the following:

• treatment of common health issues like sore throats, urinary tract infections, rashes and skin infections, ear infections, broken bones, sprains and burns, wound care and management
• ordering of some diagnostic tests such as x-rays, ultrasounds, standard blood tests and course related immunisation screening
• prescriptions for pain relief, antibiotics, the morning after pill, ear and eye drops.

There may be some limitations to the services offered by the nurse practitioner in which case a referral to General Practitioner may be required.

GP services are available at the Hopkins Medical Centre but private fees apply. International students can claim part of the fee from their OSHC insurance.
